Why Not Everyone Speaks Ukrainian Yet? Unconventional Professions on the For HR Channel

The role of teachers in our society is underestimated, which is absolutely unfair. Young professionals rarely want to pursue a career in this field; instead, they seek a more “prestigious” job after graduating from university.

On the “For HR” channel, teacher and Ukrainian language popularizer Katerina Timoshenko debunked this myth and shared more about the teaching profession.

“A teacher is a job where you will never be bored because each day brings its surprises. You will stay young for a long time because you are constantly surrounded by young people. On the other hand, this profession requires a special mindset and a person’s desire to educate, guide, and support students,” – says Katerina.

The episode also discussed why, in our society, many people still do not speak Ukrainian and why some find it challenging to switch to the state language.

“First and foremost, it’s the inertia and rigidity of human psychology. People often think that this is how I spoke for a long period, that’s how I was taught in my family, and that’s how I will continue to speak. These blocks and settings are very powerful. If we all unanimously adhered to the Law of Ukraine on the state language and all its provisions, I believe there wouldn’t be such issues,” – the episode’s protagonist shares.
