Sapper – the most demanded profession in Ukraine
Today, the profession of a sapper holds immense significance for Ukraine. This profession is extremely vital not only in liberated territories but also on the frontline.
It’s known that fighters, regardless of whether they are snipers, mortar operators, or other specialists, must possess the fundamental skills of a sapper. This includes the ability to detect and defuse dangerous objects, whether they are approaches to their own positions or enemy territory.
For their channel, For HR invited a sapper to the studio who has experience in demining some of the world’s most dangerous territories, such as the Middle East, Libya, and Africa. Alexander Lobov shared information about how to become a sapper, demonstrated the techniques these specialists use, and reminded viewers that Ukraine is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. However, to master this profession, you need to undergo a rather challenging period of training and acquire relevant skills.
“If you want to learn this trade, you must gain specific experience. The first level of qualification is training, which takes about 3-4 weeks. A person must learn about different types of mines, be able to identify these mines, and know how to handle them. After the training, the expert should acquire practical experience for at least a year,” – shared Alexander Lobov.
According to Alexander, it will take over 20 years to demine Ukraine, and with each day of the war, this number grows. After all, sappers can’t work throughout the whole year; their work is influenced by weather conditions and the season. The different areas of sappers’ work, potential earnings, and the process of humanitarian demining in the Kiev region can be seen in the new episode here.
