How to assess personnel and set KPIs?
The topic of evaluating personnel and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is one of the most relevant and interesting subjects among HR professionals. It has become even more crucial now, as ensuring the safety and protection of employees during wartime is of utmost importance, along with understanding how the war affects their productivity and psychological well-being.
On the “For HR” channel, Julia Gonchar, an HR expert with over 8 years of experience in personnel management, shared insights and challenges in evaluating personnel and KPIs during wartime.
“We have become even more open with people. We are more honest about why we do things a certain way, why we implement a particular evaluation. We openly explain why we assess employees in a certain manner and how it impacts their salary. Considering people’s morale is already not very high, we have increased the quantity and transparency of our communication with them,” – notes the protagonist of our episode.
They discussed whether wartime influences the evaluation of personnel effectiveness, mechanisms that can be implemented to support talents, and how to interact with colleagues to achieve KPI goals.
“Key Performance Indicators and measuring personnel performance are fundamental principles for why people enjoy going to work. They need to understand that their work has meaning, and they are doing it well. We are accustomed to punishing more for what’s wrong and praising less when everything is good. Therefore, we need to fill this gap, especially now, and allocate time from management for this,” – says Julia.
